As winter begins to set in, more than 5 million homes in the UK are currently at risk of flooding. The last ten years have seen an increase in these flooding events, whether from heavy rain, rivers overflowing or sea surges. In response to this increasing humanitarian need, REACT launched a UK Flood Appeal to ask you to help us raise £30,000 to train and equip more teams of volunteer Flood Responders. We are absolutely delighted to say that we reached our target, thanks to the generous contributions of our donors.
Richard Hood, REACT Flood Operations Lead said: ‘We are incredibly happy to have reached the UK Flood Appeal target and thank all of our donors for their support. These donations are going to help REACT flood teams have more of an impact around the UK - ultimately helping more people who have sadly experienced the devastation of flooding.’
Our volunteer Flood Responders will be based around the UK and will be trained to DEFRA Module 2 standards. This will enable them to enter water and relocate people experiencing flood disasters, as well as provide information and welfare support.
