In the wake of the devastating 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Morocco over four weeks ago, the urgency to provide shelter and assistance to those in need remains. A second team of REACT Responders are on their way to the High Atlas Mountains to address critical gaps in shelter and support for remote communities in the High Atlas Mountains.
The first wave of Responders spent two weeks in the region, conducting rapid needs assessments in some of the worst-hit and hardest-to-reach villages. Their efforts aimed to identify and meet urgent needs, such as shelter provision, sanitation improvements, and providing medical assistance. As the earthquake's aftermath continues to impact the lives of those affected, the latest team of four volunteer Responders will be supporting local organisations with the distribution of tents and constructing emergency shelters in a bid to provide much-needed refuge to affected communities.
