This week, our dedicated Flood Responders swapped their blue uniforms for lifejackets as they undertook the rigorous Module 2 Flood First Responder training. Despite the sweltering heat, these resilient individuals donned their gear and dove into a series of water rescue challenges, reaffirming their readiness to protect communities from flooding disasters.

What do the Flood Responders learn?

The Module 2 Flood First Responder training is part of the DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) flood response program. This module is designed to equip responders with essential skills for operating in flood conditions. The training focuses on various aspects of water rescue, including shallow-water techniques, swift-water swimming, and the use of boat and rope systems. Participants are also trained in casualty rescue, ensuring they are prepared to save lives in challenging flood scenarios. By completing this training, Responders are certified as capable of operating safely and effectively in hazardous flood environments, making them invaluable assets to their communities.
