Director of Operations
Location: Salisbury / Hybrid | Salary: c. £65,000 pa
Are you ready to lead teams that show up where others can’t, and build the systems that keep them safe? We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Director of Operations to lead our small in-house team and dedicated volunteers at REACT. This critical role will drive the success of our strategy by overseeing effective, high-quality, and safe voluntary humanitarian deployments, supporting crisis-affected communities within the UK and globally.
We don’t get to choose what time disaster strikes. We need someone with an “all in” mentality, and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done, including working weekends and evenings when REACT teams are deployed to active crises.
The Director of Operations will drive REACT’s growth, reputation, and impact in the humanitarian sector. This role offers an exciting opportunity to catalyse change within the humanitarian system, leading an organisation that is committed to action-driven leadership. As Director of Operations, you will oversee daily operations, lead a talented team, and collaborate with volunteers to deliver high-impact responses to emergencies in the UK and globally.
We are looking for a leader who is passionate about humanitarian work, committed to REACT’s mission, and ready to take on a leadership role in an ambitious charity environment.
If you are an experienced operations professional with a background in fields such as the military, emergency services, disaster management, or humanitarian operations, and have a strong understanding of disaster response both in the UK and internationally, we’d love to hear from you!
Since its inception, REACT has been at the forefront of humanitarian rapid response. Our volunteer Response Teams deploy swiftly to humanitarian emergencies in the UK and abroad, providing critical support to save lives and alleviate suffering. We specialise in managing high-tempo, complex crises, filling critical gaps and strengthening essential infrastructure during the volatile early stages of an emergency. REACT’s skilled responders operate in small, agile, self-sufficient teams, focusing on hard-to-reach and vulnerable communities to ensure they have the resources to survive and recover from disaster.
In return, you'll become part of an ambitious charity that consistently punches above its weight. We offer a hybrid working environment, flexible working options, a 6% employer pension contribution, a free health cashback plan (including 24/7 virtual GP access), and family-friendly policies.

You would also create informed strategic fiscal plans and advice to share with SLT, the CEO and our board of Trustees.
We're seeking an experienced and qualified accounting professional who is capable of delivering a high standard of financial stewardship. You’ll pair deep charity-sector know-how with the confidence and agility to keep us SORP-compliant while leading financial planning and management of staff and operational expenses. Clear communication skills, existing knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and prior experience of Xero are also highly desirable skills for this role.
