REACT Disaster Response is proud to partner with Fernco, a leading provider of flood protection solutions, in a powerful initiative to help communities affected by flooding. Through their ambitious “Race Against the Rivers Challenge,” Fernco has pledged to raise £25,000 to support REACT’s life-saving flood disaster relief efforts.
A Race Against Rising Waters
From February to November 2024, Fernco employees will take on a staggering 2,446-mile challenge—equivalent to the combined length of 25 major UK rivers—by walking, cycling, and running. This campaign is not just about endurance; it’s about making a real difference to those facing the devastating effects of floods.
“With flooding becoming more frequent and severe, we must act now to protect communities,” says Lee Pashley, Managing Director of Fernco. “At Fernco, we’re passionate about flood resilience, but we want to go further. By supporting REACT, we can ensure trained volunteer Flood Responders have the resources they need to provide immediate aid where it’s needed most.”
Why This Matters
Between October 2022 and March 2024, England experienced its wettest 18-month period in over 180 years. Today, flooding threatens one in six properties—approximately 5.7 million homes across the country. The need for rapid and effective disaster response has never been greater.
“With the growing risk of floods, this partnership with Fernco is vital,” says Toby Wicks, Chief Executive of REACT. “Their incredible commitment will help equip our Flood Responders with the training and tools needed to act swiftly when disaster strikes. Together, we are ensuring that no one faces flooding alone.”
Get Involved
Fernco is calling on supporters to join them in the challenge and help raise essential funds for REACT Disaster Response. Every step, mile, and donation makes a difference.
