11,255 people supported: the partnerships and people behind REACT’s Nepal response

So far, REACT’s response in Nepal has supported 11,255 people, with 3,598 items of aid delivered or funded.

Behind those numbers are Nepali people. Families, adults and children whose lives were changed in an instant by a sudden disaster. And reaching them has taken a collective effort.

Working alongside local communities and partners, including Quick Rescue Team Nepal, REACT Responders have helped get practical support to where it is needed. That has included food and hygiene supplies for families, generators and fuel for community hubs, and solar lighting for communities where access to power has been disrupted.

It has also taken a wider team. Responders have deployed to Nepal, while others have supported the operation from the UK as watchkeepers, completing tasks remotely and supporting activity through REACT’s Operations Room. Behind them, REACT’s staff team has supported fundraising, communications, logistics and coordination, while donors have provided the vital funds that make the response and the distribution of supplies possible.

The context of the response is now shifting towards recovery. Needs remain, particularly in harder-to-reach communities, but what people require is evolving.

REACT’s focus in the coming weeks is on where it can add the most value: listening to communities, working alongside partners, identifying remaining gaps and providing targeted, practical support without duplicating the work of others.

Because effective disaster response is never the work of one organisation. It takes communities, local partners, volunteers, staff and supporters working together.
